Keeping the attention of students is a constant battle, unfortunately, many of us zone out without even realising it. Therefore, to make sure this isn’t the case when you’re coaching, try to make the material as exciting as possible. A great way to achieve this is by getting them to interact with you. With a good back and forth their attention will be entirely focused on your coaching and the information at hand.
Open-ended questions also help students learn better. Questions related to the subject can be asked helping them build up a better understanding of the topic as a whole.
Relay Feedback Appropriately
Feedback is often seen as negative comments. Most of us hate it. Although, it doesn’t have to be this way. Good executive coaches have mastered the art of providing tips for improvement without students feeling like it’s being overly critical.
How is this done? Well, it consists of providing the information in a non-critical way. Firstly, talk about all the positives that have been achieved and then follow it up with suggestions on how to improve even more. This approach has been known to make students feel like they’re advancing without feeling too frustrated and wanting to give up.
